From 16 to 23 October 2019 we will take part in the K exhibition in Düsseldorf, the reference fair for the plastics and rubber industry. An international meeting where, every three years, all the innovations in this sector are showcased.

Circular economy and sustainability will the hot topic of this edition: a system to promote the reuse of plastic material at the end of its life cycle. The focus will mainly be on innovative materials and processes, which will significantly contribute to overcome global challenges - such as water, energy and waste management - through digitalization and sustainable development.

Hence, at K we will not only exhibit innovative injection molding machines for plastics processing, but we will also make an important contribution to the theme of sustainability. We will present a new application capable of producing 100% certified home compostable raw material on IML labelled coffee capsules, which can then be disposed of in the organic, without separating them from the coffee. The product is made up of a polymer that can guarantee excellent performance during the coffee extraction phase and withstand high temperatures and pressure.

This project has represented an important challenge for us. In order to make the production of coffee capsules sustainable as to reduce non-recyclable waste and minimize its impact on the environment, it is necessary to take an essential step in terms of innovation and concretely demonstrate compatibility between plastic and environmental protection.
