As announced earlier this year, Pegaso Industries (Borgoricco, Italy) is establishing a North American presence for its subsidiary Plastic Systems to better service the area’s growing market for its auxiliary equipment. The company is now announcing the opening of a new facility in Atlanta, GA, to house the U.S. headquarters of Plastic Systems. A grand opening celebration with ribbon cutting is slated for February 2020.

“Plastic Systems’ U.S. headquarters in Atlanta allows us to provide industry-leading customer support and product innovation in one of the fastest-growing markets in the world,” said Michael Smith, VP of Sales and Service, North America. “We are proud of our established base across the United States. Our broad geographic coverage in the region allows us to make a significant long-term contribution to our customers in North America.”

Smith has an extensive background in the plastics industry, having served with LK Machinery, Hong Kong, as President and CEO North America and Husky Injection Molding Systems as Director Sales and Service North America. Smith is also former Chairman of the Plastics Industry Association's Western Section.

Smith joins Plastic Systems with the mission of further growing its business in extrusion, injection molding and blowmolding processing and PET solutions to a global market. When asked about the new venture, Smith commented, “I am excited to start a new challenge within Pegaso/Plastic Systems Inc. and look forward to working with their outstanding team in furthering their strong commitment to the North American plastics market.”

Rinaldo Piva, President of Pegaso Industries, said Smith’s “vision, reputation and knowledge within the plastics industry has already made him a significant member of the Plastic Systems team. We view his appointment as a reflection of our commitment to a growing market. Acceptance of our process equipment platform and increasing demand from our customers has led us to seek an addition to the team with the capabilities and reputation of Michael. We are confident he and his team will continue the pursuit of excellence synonymous with the Plastic Systems brand.”

The new facility is dedicated to warehousing, equipment demonstrations, spare parts inventory, sub-assembly and service, and sales. A training center has also been established. Currently, Plastic Systems is recruiting to support sales, technical, engineering and service requirements.

Rinaldo Piva, President of Pegaso Industries, said, “We view our decision as a reflection of our commitment to a growing market. Acceptance of our process equipment platform and increasing demand from our customers has led us to seek an expansion of our products, support and services to the North American market.”

A global manufacturer of equipment and auxiliaries, Pegaso Industries comprises Plastic Systems, specializing in machinery and specialty systems for plastics processing; PET Solutions specializing in beverage packaging systems; Blauwer refrigeration systems; Steel Systems for the production of steel components; and Ergomec, specialists in storage, pneumatic transport and dosage of granules and powders for the plastics, chemicals and food sectors.
